The XVIII edition of the Euromarina Optimist Trophy Torrevieja has successfully concluded in the waters of the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja, reaffirming its position as one of the most important Optimist-class competitions at an international level.
The event brought together more than 450 young sailors from up to 30 countries, turning Torrevieja into the global epicenter of youth and junior sailing for several days.

An edition marked by talent, resilience and the values of sport
Throughout the competition, the young sailors demonstrated not only a high technical and competitive level, but also fundamental values such as perseverance, effort, respect and teamwork, principles that form part of the DNA of the Euromarina Optimist Trophy.
Weather conditions added an extra level of challenge to the regatta, testing both the adaptability of the participants and the excellent work carried out by the race committee.
Izan Rogel, overall champion on home waters
The main protagonist of this XVIII edition was local sailor Izan Rogel (RCN Torrevieja), who was crowned overall champion after a highly competitive regatta.
A regatta decided on the final day
Thursday’s racing allowed for only one race to be completed, after which Rogel shared the lead with Nicolás Bastard, Charles Ganivet and Metehan Asar. On Friday, a tenth-place finish caused him to drop several positions in the overall standings, while on Saturday the fleet was unable to sail due to excessive wind conditions.
With everything still to be decided on Sunday, the Torrevieja sailor delivered a decisive performance with race results of 1-2-7. The completion of the fourth race activated the discard rule, allowing him to drop Friday’s tenth place and finish the competition with 11 points, securing the overall title at his home club.
