Almonds are nuts with multiple health benefits; they are rich in protein, healthy fat, vitamin E and minerals such as calcium, which makes strong bones and protects the heart, preventing cardiovascular disease and reducing blood cholesterol. They also help to have good eyesight.
How do we consume almonds?
In Spain we consume lots of almonds, in sweet recipes such as cakes and biscuits and also in savory recipes such as stews, sauces, etc. We eat them raw, toasted, fried, in oil… and we also use almond flour or almond milk. Almonds are the main ingredient in our traditional nougat, but there are other snacks like chocolate and many other traditional sweets in which almonds are essential.
But we don’t just eat it, almonds are a good ally of our skin and are used in soaps, gels, creams and body oils.
